F**K Your Breakfast 3 - Dj Whoa-B (2005) by Frankiefranklive on Mixcloud
Upon a trench raid through my jungle of Garage vinyls earlier on, I surprisingly stumbled upon this very old "plug and play" external hard task of mine, last touched back in 2007. There are some rather useful pieces of music on there (mainly House &
Hip Hop, given the state of Grime during that period) including three mixes from Chicago's very own Whoa-B.
Formerly of a Heavy Metal band Whoa-B's love for UK Garage lead to such a dedicated following that he still continued to live the genre as it evolved, and developed, into this wonderful scene we call Grime."My dedicationto electronic music began on the dance floor. Going to parties as therave era (aka the nineties) came to a close I was off on to theecstatic vibes of house music. I also found myself drawn to the darkenergy of drum & bass. But the subject that made me want to be a DJwas UK garage. It seemed to mix elements of house, drum & bass, hip hop, reggae, and r&b with eclectic perfection." Those styles are omnipresent across this mix, recorded in 2005. The ruthless and eternally (yet, probably hopelessly) desired delivery of Dizzee Rascal is thrust among classics by Youngstar and Macabre Unit, Garage royalty Wookie and MJ Cole are played against each other in a whirlwind of flashback bliss whilst Ludacris & Kardinal Offishall provide Quincy Jones-sampling Hip Hop flavours. Also featuring classics from Wiley and Todd Edwards this mix starts with some intense mash-ups but ends up a dangerous, laptop-smashing skankers! (footnote: I done my best with tune names - the mix was accompanied bya bland notepad file!).Tracklsiting Dizzee Rascal vs Macabre Unit - Strings vs Taurus - Bootleg Youngstar vs Dizzee Rascal - Revival 2 vs Stand Up Tall - Bootleg Youngstar vs Jon E Cash - Ruff Neck Beat vs Cash Beat - Bootleg 116 vs Youngstar - Bongcat Vocal vs Youngstar - Bootleg Terror Danjah vs Big Ed - Nite Crawler 2 vs Frontline (Terror Danjah Remix) - Bootleg Pitbull - FWD Ridddim - Dub So Solid Crew vs Davinche - Dilemma vs Eyes On U - Bootleg Donae'o - Straight Riddim - Dub Manu Chao - Bongo Bong (Cut & Run "Breakz" Remix) - Cut & Run Ludacris & Kardinal Offishall - Number One Spot Remix - Def Jam Terror Danjah - Piano Madness - Aftershock Wookie vs MJ Cole - Down On Me vs Sanctuary - Bootleg Wiley - Wot Do U Call It - XL Recordings Delinquent - The Record - Spoilt Rotten Entertainment Wideboys - Heartache - Public Demand Rodney P - Trouble (MJ Cole Remix) - Riddim Killa Records Paul Johnson - She Got Me On (Todd Edwards Mix) - Data Records Towa Tei - Free (MJ Cole Remix) - Rhythm Republic
